They called it luck

I woke up with the sun beaming bright;

Till where I could see, there was only light.

I embarked upon the path once more,

Indifferent to what lay in store.

The clouds arrived early,

Engulfing the sky pearly,

The light was soon gone,

And with it departed dawn.

Rains lashed the landscape;

There seemed to be no escape.

Leaving all my baggage behind,

I decided to put up with the grind.

Hours turned to months, and months to years;

I challenged my fears and buried my tears.

And when the dawn broke over me once more,

I lifted my head to discover a lovely shore.

The people around me patted me on my back;

A million cheered me and wondered about my hack.

I could hear a few cries, “Oh, this was plain luck”,

The voice within resounded “You know, you stuck!”
