The Boat to Neverland

I took a boat to Neverland,
The land of dreams, of riches, of fame;
And on the way, I made some friends,
A few turned foes; was it part of the game?
The days were spent in sun-kissed warmth,
And the nights beamed moon’s virtuous charm;
But a tide would turn every once in a while,
Which would rock my boat, and raise an alarm.
Each wave beneath the sail would shove,
My barque a little further towards my goal;
Little victories were whenever I touched a shore,
Warming my heart and my gullible soul.
Days turned to months and months to years;
I now had a family, more reasons to cheer!
Some old friends left, some new became dear,
The gap seemed to bridge, was I inching near?
I sailed and sailed, in search of the blessed land,
An illusion, a fact, or was it just a pompous stand?
What I sought seemed close, yet drifting apart,
The light at tunnel’s end had whispered to my heart,
"The voyage was the goal, from the very start!"
