The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz is a book that has been instrumental in shaping the person I am today. The more I return to it, the more I experience inner growth. It is not a one-time read; it is one of those rare treasures you turn to over and over again—in good times and in bad. Just flip open to any page, start reading, and those magical words will leave you enriched.
The book discusses four powerful agreements one should make with oneself: be impeccable with your word, don’t take anything personally, don’t make assumptions, and always do your best. On the face of it, you may think these agreements appear impractical or difficult to implement. But read the book and you will realize how sensible they are, and how much trouble you can save yourself and the people you love with just four simple commitments.
Over time, you may (like me) notice your relationships improving, your stress and anger reducing, and an overall sense of personal evolution. While I believe everyone needs this book—I even made my 13-year-old read it—it will be particularly useful to those already on a path of self-growth and spirituality. Keep it close; the more you live by it, the more it will transform your life.
